Ruben Estuardo Pineda
Associate in Research, Duke Center for International Development (DCID)
Estuardo Pineda is a ProInspire Fellow at the Duke Center for International Development (DCID) – a unit within Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy. At DCID, Estuardo is responsible for conducting international research about health and food policy. He is currently working on a project for the World Food Program conducting cost-effectiveness analyses (CEAs) to compare interventions to reduce malnutrition in Africa. He is also working on a project analyzing patterns in global development assistance for nutrition interventions in Central America. Prior to DCID, Estuardo worked for fifteen years for Microsoft and Citibank in sales, marketing, customer service, and operations, covering Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, Central and South America. Estuardo holds a Masters in International Development Policy (MIDP) from Duke University. He is also a Certified Project Manager Professional (PMP #1767816). Outside of work, Estuardo is the President and Founder of “Abrazando mi Guatemala” (Embracing my Guatemala), a non-profit organization in Guatemala focused on developing strategies to eradicate childhood malnutrition in Guatemala as well as empowering indigenous girls through secondary education. Estuardo enjoys travelling and spending time with his wife and his three children.
