
Rachael Fortune
Senior Director, Alliance Engagement, America’s Promise Alliance
Rachael Tutwiler Fortune is Senior Director of Alliance Engagement at America’s Promise Alliance where she is responsible for developing and guiding implementation of the organization’s strategy to accelerate progress to the GradNation campaign goal of a 90 percent high school graduation rate. A member of the Senior Leadership Team, she also directs the GradNation State Activation Initiative. She previously served as a Presidential Management Fellow and Program Officer at the U.S. Department of Education, where she managed a portfolio of multi-million-dollar Race to the Top grants and supported state implementation of other K-12 policies and programs during the Obama Administration. She also completed a detail at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, where she advanced children and youth policy initiatives. Prior to federal service, Rachael was a Project Consultant and Education Pioneers Fellow at Oakland Unified School District. She also served as Community Engagement Manager at the Jacksonville Public Education Fund, where she launched the ONE by ONE campaign to mobilize stakeholders to develop a shared vision for local schools. She began her career as a teacher after being selected a Teach for America – Jacksonville charter corps member.
