KIPP DC, Business Manager
Evan Ponchick is a ProInspire Fellow at KIPP DC: Benning Road, part of a network of high-performing, public, college-preparatory charter schools in Washington, D.C., which serves the city’s under-resourced communities. As a Business Manager, he oversees the all operations for over 1,500 students at LEAP, Promise and KEY Academy. This includes procurement, food services, facilities, cleaning and security. Evan enjoys being part of the KIPP team in other ways when he teaches Ultimate Frisbee during Saturday school. Evan graduated from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland with a double major in Supply Chain and Operations Management. While at Maryland, he stared the Food Recovery Network through his community service Fraternity Alpha Phi Omega. The Food Recovery Network has gone on to become a national non-profit, and leader in reallocating leftover food to those in need. Since then, he interned at T.W. Perry in Chevy Chase, Md and help craft an award-winning quality assurance system. Before coming to ProInspire and KIPP DC, he served a year with Americorp and City Year at Abram Simon Elementary School in a 2nd grade classroom. Evan believes that all children should be afforded a high quality education no matter where they are from.
