Ellie Geraghty

New Futures

Ellie graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and continued as an Admissions Counselor in JMU’s Office of Admissions.  Shortly after, Ellie transitioned to City Year Washington, D.C., serving as an AmeriCorps member at Cardozo Education Campus.  While there, she worked with eighth grade students, aiding with academic and socio-emotional needs and providing students with tools to succeed through high school and beyond.   Ellie continued her service through Public Allies, an AmeriCorps program which led her to the LAYC Career Academy where she piloted a reading intervention program, facilitated workshops, developed community partnerships and supported students to succeed along his/her path. Ellie also spent time at the Latin American Youth Center as a Job Developer with the W.I.S.E. program helping students who recently obtained his/her GED develop job readiness skills and obtain meaningful careers.  Most recently, Ellie began working at New Futures, an organization that provides scholarships for students to pursue short-term educational programs as the Alumni and Career Coordinator.
